Book of the Month

Have You Filled a Bucket Today?: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids

In our quest to build our students’ vocabulary and academic language, we are continuing our tradition of all classrooms reading the same book each month.  Our book-of-the month for December is  Have You Filled a Bucket Today?: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids, written by Carol McCloud and illustrated by David Messing.  This heartwarming book encourages positive behavior by using an invisible bucket to show children how easy and rewarding it is to express kindness, appreciation, and love by “filling buckets.” This book will help our students understand how to make the world better by their own actions of filling each other’s lives with kindness.

December  by Helen H. Moore

Every year at just this time, in cold and dark December,
Families around the world all gather to remember,
With presents and with parties, with feasting and with fun,
Customs and traditions for people old and young.

THIS IS MY COUNTRY

Words- Don Raye
Music- Al Jacobs

With hand upon my heart I thank the Lord for this, my native land.
For all I love is here within her gates.
My soul is rooted deeply in the soil on which I stand,
For these are mine, my own United States!

This is my country, land of my birth.
This is my country, grandest on earth.
I pledge thee my allegiance, America, the bold.
For this is my country, to have and to hold.

This is my country, land of my choice.
This is my country, hear my proud voice.
I pledge thee my allegiance, America, the bold.
For this is my country, to have and to hold!
