Book of the Month
In our quest to build our students’ vocabulary and academic language, we are continuing our tradition of all classrooms reading the same book each month. Our book-of-the month for January is I Wish You More by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld. As we welcome a new year of wonderful opportunities, this uplifting book will encourage our students to be the best they can possibly be. This book is filled with wishes for curiosity and wonder, encouragement for friendship and strength, and hope for laughter and peace. In a world of endless opportunities, we wish our students more happiness, more success, and more achievement.
Poem of the Month
Happy New Year – William Arthur Ward
This bright new year is given me to live each day with zest…
To daily grow and try to be my highest and my best!
I have the opportunity once more to right some wrongs,
To pray for peace, to plant a tree, and sing more joyful songs!
Song of the Month
America the Beautiful
lyrics by Katherine Lee Bates
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
