Book of the Month
We will continue our tradition of all classrooms reading the same book each month to build our students’ vocabulary and academic language. Our book-of-the-month will be When Sophie Gets Angry…Really, Really Angry by Molly Bang. Our students will learn that everybody gets angry sometimes. For children, anger can be very upsetting. Parents, teachers, and children can talk about it. People do lots of different things when they get angry. In this Caldecott Honor book, kids will see what Sophie does when she gets angry. Our students will learn coping strategies to use when they get angry.
Poem of the Month
by Boni Fulgham
Trying your best
Each hour of the day,
Making new friends,
Being good as you can
Reading books with a friend.
Song of the Month
America the Beautiful
Words by Katharine Lee Bates,
Melody by Samuel Ward
O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
